life is a verb by Patti Digh
I have the pleasure of doing a book study right now with two great friends. We are working through the book life is a verb by Patti Digh.
It is a book about living today, in the moment. Being able to experience life to the fullest right now.
We are going on week two of the study with daily readings and journal exercises. I am posting some of my journal pages here as well a photo of the book. It is well worth checking out.
This is my relaxing corner where I often sit with a tea, light the candle and relax.
UPPERCASE Magazine based in Calgary
I found a link to this really cool magazine and online web presence through a fellow artist’s website. How refreshing to see more Canadian based magazines. Here is the link to check it out http://www.uppercasegallery.ca/
Community Art Project Update
Many thanks to Nadine Bosch who ended up being in charge of the community art project called DARE TO BELIEVE for the Lloydminster Olympic Torch Relay. Excellent job Nadine!
I do not have a picture of Nadine to post but I do have a picture of one of her fabulous art pieces which I purchased last year at a community art walk venue.
More pictures of the event will be posted later once I have them uploaded from my phone.
My kids and I had fun helping out and being a part of something so positive and uplifting for out community and our Canadian athletes.
Well done Nadine.
January 12, 2010 Olympic Torch Relay and Community Art
Laura Hale is the Artist in residence for Lloydminster with a studio at Bud Miller park. She has undertaken a community art project for Lloydminster residence in conjunction with the torch relay on January 12, 2010. Come out and make a wish for our Canadian athletes and be part of the community art project.
You may find more information about Laura Hale here http://bchcc.ca/artist.html
I feel honored to have been asked to take part as a volunteer at the community art project table and will be there in the early afternoon helping out.
Come on out and support our athletes and our community art. Make sure to check out the large ice sculpture at the Bud Miller Park entrance it is very cool (pun intended).
Studio December 2009
I am finally at the point where my studio is a living, working space again. I have my coffee corner where I can sit with a dear friend, family, my children or take some me time. I have my computer area where I work and explore other art sites. AND I have my art supplies arranged and organized so I can create with freedom and inspiration. I invite you in to my world. Enjoy.

The photo of the girl is a close up of a work of art by the very talented daughter of a very talented friend. The piece hangs on an old door in the studio, a door that oozes character.
The photo of the man done in ink and charcoal is of a work I did several years ago.
The church scene is a small painting I purchased at the Mendal Art Gallery in Saskatoon.
The blue chair in the corner was first my Great-Grans, then my Grandpa’s then mine. My Grandpa was one of my favorite people in the whole world, the kind of person who believed in you no matter what.
It is fitting that above the chair is a painting my grandma (his wife) painted. Grandma died when I was two so I do not remember her but I sure admire her talent as a self-taught oil painter. She took to painting later in life as a hobby to keep her busy on the farm in winter and in a very short period of time was able to turn out some beautiful works of art. The big horse on the rug is Shasta.
Yes, I love books. I love to read, learn, explore, be challenged, be changed, grow, all through the written word. Powerful. Reading makes me a better person and artist.
Enjoy your Christmas everyone.
May you be richly blessed in love and laughter.
Christmas is almost here.
Studio renovations have been ongoing for the past several months. I had changed things around earlier to teach at home and after hosting several classes realized that I really needed more room to teach so I am back out at Lakeland College for teaching. My studio at home is just my work space again and it has been taking a while to get organized. I have repainted the walls, two in a rich yellow and two in a color I like to call gallery red. The studio is becoming my warm and cozy place and I can hardly wait to pick up my long neglected paint brushes again and get busy. The new class schedule will be posted in January and I look forward to bringing a fresh energy and learning to the classes. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!
The photo is of my journal cover created with paper, yarn and a dash of creativity.
